Evaluation of client satisfaction with the Managed Alcohol Program of the Drop-in center Vlhká

Drop-in center Vlhká, operated by the organization Podané ruce, implements the Managed Alcohol Program as the only organization in the Czech Republic, inspired by similar programs abroad. In this work, I utilize satisfaction evaluation as a research method with the intention of providing clients an opportunity to express their views on the program and the operation of this center. The aim of the research was to conduct a satisfaction survey among clients of the Drop-in center Vlhká, involved in the Managed Alcohol Program. The objective was to evaluate clients' satisfaction with this program, as well as other interventions provided by the center, the approach of the staff, the environment, facilities, and opening hours. The intention was to provide the results of the work to the service management as a potential inspiration for further changes and development, as well as feedback on the changes that have already been implemented. The research sample consisted of 17 respondents, clients of the Drop-in center Vlhká, participating in the Managed Alcohol Program, who correspond to the target group of the service. Prevalence of substance abuse among employees of low-threshold and outpatient addictology services in the Czech Republic

Background: The prevalence of substance use in the general population is commonly mapped, as is the issue of substance prevalence among drug users themselves. There is no official research in the Czech Republic that deals with the prevalence of substance use among workers in addictology services. Objectives: The aim of the research is to map the prevalence of the use of legal and illegal addictive substances in a selected research population. The results of the mapping will show which addictive substances are most frequently used by members of the research population, which substances have the highest lifetime prevalence and which substances are not very popular in this population. Methods: The basic orientation of the empirical survey was quantitative. Data were obtained through an online questionnaire survey. Out of the total number of 589 employees, 41.9% of employees of outpatient or low-threshold addictology services participated in the research, ie 247 respondents. Benzodiazepine use in clients of harm reduction programs of SEMIRAMIS z.ú: questionnaire survey

BACKGROUND: Abuse of psychoactive drugs shows up to 900 thousand people in Czech Republic, benzodiazepine (further referred as BZD) alprazolam abuse up to 270 thousand people. This is a long-hidden and unresolved problem that also affects people who use drugs. AIMS: The aim of this work is to describe the occurrence of benzodiazepine use among the clients of outreach program and contact center SEMIRAMIS z.ú. To fulfill it, research questions were formulated with focus on prevalence of use, sources of BZD, patterns of their use, the occurrence of risk use of BZD and knowledge of the risks associated with BZD use. METHODS: Quantitative research using a standardized questionnaire was used for data collection and processing. Sample consisted of 79 respondents from clients of the above- mentioned programs using the method of self-selection and selection by judgment. The obtained data were processed using coding, qualitative data from open questions were subjected to basic qualitative analysis. Sorted data were then analyzed and compared using descriptive-statistical methods. Risky sexual behavior of problem drugs users using low-threshold addictology services in České Budějovice

Basis: In the Czech Republic, an estimated 46.8 thousand problem drug users and the prevalence of infectious diseases (mainly viral hepatitis C) among problem users are high. This may be related not only to the actual use of drugs but also to their risky sexual behavior through which they can transmit infectious diseases as well. Objective: The main goal of this thesis is to describe the occurrence of risk sexual behavior in problem drug addicts using low-threshold addictology services in České Budějovice. Methods: The results of this thesis were processed on the basis of answers from an anonymous questionnaire from 50 clients of the contact center in České Budějovice, with a total of 12% of clients' contact centers. They were addressing respondents who came to take advantage of the exchange program or contact room. A total of 19 women and 31 men participated in the survey, the average age of respondents was 32 years. The research results were identified and processed in graphs through descriptive statistics. The data was evaluated in Microsoft Excel and then in Microsoft Word. Results: The results show a certain connection between problematic use of addictive substances and risky sexual behavior. The role of a dog in the life of drug users

Summary: The main theme of this work is a relationship between substance users who visits low- treshold services in Prague and their dogs. Many of these people own a dog and their relationship hasn't been described yet. This ownership brings some specific limits - for example taking care of the dog (feeding, health, training), accepting the responsibility and moreover, a pet can represent an obstacle in accommodation or treatment. On the other side, a dog has a very positive impact on a human mental state and averts the feeling of loneliness. A dog can be a factor to the increase of money made during begging and is a protector and a friend to a human in their life. The aim of this thesis is to describe relationship between substance user and his dog. Research questions ask how important the dog is in the life of a drug user and what positives and negatives a dog brings in his life. I implemented a semi-structured interview in a terrain outreach program for drug users for bigger authenticity of the statements acquired. I had a chance to see how respondents manipulate with their dogs in their natural surroundings and sometimes the conditions they are living in. Drug consumption rooms establishment and their providing to drug users: overview of international experiences.

INTRODUCTION: Drug consumption rooms (DCR) are places for the hygienic consumption of preobtained drugs in a non-judgemental environment and under the supervision of trained staff. Since 1986, the DCR have been established in 10 countries around the world. Despite the fact that Czech Republic offers wide range of services aimed to minimize the risks connected to problematic drug users, intravenous aplication still prevails. While, effectivity of DCR has already been proven, there are none in the Czech Republic. AIMS: The work aims to provide systematic and comprehensive summary of current state of knowledge regarding establishment and runing of DCR from international experiences. Additionally, the target of this work is to describe what conditions, necessary for legal establishment of DCR, were set in these countries and whether these conditions can be set in Czech Republic. Finally, the thesis analyzes whether the DCR are visited and used by clients and describes what the profile of a typical client is.
